The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Capital University of Science & Technology (CUST) is recognized both nationally and internationally for its academic excellence and research contributions. Since its establishment in 1998, CUST has upheld high academic standards, fostering innovation and technological advancements. The department is renowned for its research and development activities, offering BS, MS, and PhD programs in Mechanical Engineering, along with MS and PhD programs in Engineering Management.

To support its research endeavors, the department has established five specialized research groups, each focusing on key areas of mechanical engineering.

The Thermo-Fluids Research Group conducts fundamental and applied research in aerodynamics, multiphase flows, HVAC, combustion, CFD, turbulence, and renewable energy, addressing key challenges in fluid dynamics and thermal systems.

The Mechanics and Materials in Design Research Group explores dynamics, vibrations, composites, superconductors, lattice structures, metallic foams, and material processing, with applications in biomechanics, biotechnology, and engineering design.

The Renewable Energy Research Group focuses on solar, wind, biomass, hydropower, and ocean energy, including thermal energy storage, phase change materials, and solar applications, contributing to sustainable energy advancements.

The Industrial and Manufacturing Research Group tackles supply chain management, logistics, scheduling, and industrial optimization, enhancing efficiency and sustainability in manufacturing.

The BioMech Fusion Group integrates biomechanics, tissue engineering, biomaterials, additive manufacturing, and numerical analysis, advancing health and rehabilitation technologies by merging biology with mechanical engineering.
